Danish famer Henning and his Kverneland machines

The Danish farmer Henning Rasmussen talks about his deep cultivator, seed drill, fertilizer spreader and brand new field sprayer, all from Kverneland.

Henning Rasmussen, from Horne near Faaborg on South Funen, makes no secret of the fact that he is a Kverneland- man.

- “It hasn't diminished over time. First and foremost because I'm satisfied with the machines from Kverneland, but also because it's practical to have many machines of the same brand when you need spare parts", explains the South Funen farmer.

He farms approximately 365 hectares of winter oilseed rape, winter wheat, winter rye, winter barley and spring barley - plus, in some years, seed grass if it fits into the crop rotation.

In addition to running his own arable farm, Henning Rasmussen, who has a trainee and a flexible worker, also sows, sprays and spreads fertilizer for other farmers in the area. In addition to farming, he also runs a large pig farm.

Kverneland Enduro Pro harrow

Among the Kverneland machines at Henning Rasmussen is a two-year-old 4-meter Enduro Pro deep cultivator. He always uses it to create seedbeds in connection with reduced tillage. Once every 5-6 years, however, the plow comes out, especially to combat weasel tail and field foxtail.

- I chose the Enduro Pro deep cultivator with folding side wings because we need to be able to get around many different fields. I've also had seeding equipment fitted to the harrow, which can be used to sow cover crops and winter rape - with really good results,” he says and adds:

The packing roller crushes the tubers

- The packer roller on the Enduro Pro harrow is great on strong clay soil where it crushes the clods effectively. And of course, the hydraulically adjustable working depth makes it comfortable.

The next Kverneland machine on the South Funen farm is an approximately five-year-old Kverneland u-drill 6000 Plus seed drill with a working width of six meters.

- It is a very versatile seed drill that can seed all crops. And it's equipped with two tanks, so you can sow and apply fertilizer in the same pass. Even though the seed and fertilizer are placed in the same groove and at the same depth, I have never experienced the seed scorching when applying up to 50 kg of nitrogen per hectare,” says Henning Rasmussen.

Cutting pressure up to 120 kg

He adds that his u-drill drill can operate with a coulter pressure of up to 120 kg, so the seeds are always well in the ground.

The South Funen farmer finds the six meter wide drill easy to pull due to the wide and high tires that reduce rolling resistance. The seeder is pulled by a 295 hp Claas 870.

Henning Rasmussen also has a three-year-old Kverneland Exacta TL GEOSPREAD fertilizer spreader.

- “I'm very happy with the fertilizer spreader's section control when there are wedges in the fields and they are generally not straight. The section control probably saves me 7-8 percent fertilizer,” he says.

The equipment with the microdosing equipment

The fertilizer spreader is also equipped with microdosing equipment, which is used for spreading slug pellets and sowing cover crops.

Henning Rasmussen finds the Exacta TL GEOSPREAD fertilizer spreader very user-friendly.

- “It's proven technology that provides a high level of operational reliability,” he says.

- “I also take great care of my fertilizer spreader. The fertilizer is hard on things, so I clean it thoroughly and lubricate the bearings every time it's been used and needs to be put aside,” says the South Funen farmer.

Brand-new Kverneland iXtrack T4 sprayer

His fleet also includes a brand new Kverneland iXtrack T4 sprayer with a 5,300 liter tank and a 24 meter boom. The sprayer has not been used yet.

- When I chose to invest in this sprayer, it was not least due to its low drift nozzles. There are three different nozzle types to choose from, so it's possible to meet the requirement for low drift, among other things. “I've chosen a 24 meter boom so that the sprayer fits in with our other machine setup,” explains Henning Rasmussen.

- “It's also very practical that the iXtrack T4 sprayer is equipped with the same terminal as the fertilizer spreader and seed drill,” he adds.

Henning Rasmussen has also noticed that this type of sprayer has received very good reviews regarding user-friendliness.
